Current Events at City Hall

APG Arbor & Earth Day Celebration - April 29. Mayor Bennett and Councilwoman Young visited APG for a celebration sponsored by the Garrison APG Commander and Environmental Staff.  Tree City USA presented Aberdeen Proving Ground the Tree City Growth Award in recognition for their commitment to the environment.  The Mayor and Councilwoman were delighted to show their support and participated in ceremonial tree plantings.

Mayor Bennett participated in a Maryland BRAC Panel Discussion June 18.  Our Mayor along with four other panelists spoke at the Verizon Maryland Users Education & Technology Conference in Linthicum, MD.  The Mayor, who is Co-Chair of the Local Government Subcommittee for BRAC, spoke about our water needs & possible solutions, infrastructure & transportation, preparation for BRAC, annexation issues, as well as other unique topics. He was joined by Joe Daniels of External Affairs and Public Policy Verizon BRAC Planning Liaison, Jim Richardson, Executive Director- Harford County Office of Economic Development, Ralph Cardenuto, BRAC Program Manager APG, and Asuntha Chiang-Smith, Vice Committee Chair Governor's Sub Cabinet on BRAC.  On hand for public inspection outside, were the impressive 56-foot, hi-tech Maryland  State Police Incident Command Vehicle and the Verizon Mobile Command Unit. These vehicles serve as highly advanced communication and monitoring centers. 

On the local legislative front. The Mayor and Council  will meet on Monday, June 30 in Council Chambers at 4:30 PM for a COUNCIL WORK SESSION.
